Saariselkä sits on the northern fringe of Urho Kekkonen National Park, Finland's second-largest national park at 2,550 km², and is the village that defined glass-roof aurora accommodation. Most of the country's flagship glass cabins (Kakslauttanen, Star Arctic, Northern Lights Village) are within 10 km of the village.
