The investment company Venture Lapland has bought a majority holding in the Rovaniemi luxury travel group Arctra and plans to build more capacity near the city.
The plan is to multiply the group's revenue roughly tenfold, add luxury accommodation floor space near Rovaniemi and grow services from lodging to transport, security and concierge.
Venture Lapland, an investment company that backs northern growth firms, has acquired a majority holding in Arctra, a luxury travel group based in Rovaniemi, and says it intends to multiply the group's revenue roughly tenfold. Arctra is built from four units. Arctra DMC is the travel agency: it brings international customers to Lapland and runs the service production, from cooks to guides. Otava Lodge is the group's own luxury accommodation. Divánta is the concierge house, handling privacy and close protection, and LuxCar is the luxury car rental with its own vehicles and drivers. According to the release the group employs just over 40 people during the winter season.
“Arctra's four business areas are the first in Finland to offer a complete range of services for luxury travel,” says Elias Joentakanen, chairman of the board of Venture Lapland.
The target is roughly ten times the group’s pro forma revenue for its latest financial year, and it is meant to be reached once an investment programme of a few years is complete.

Both figures are the company's own, from the release of 16 September. The target is an estimate, not a result.
The growth is to come from new accommodation capacity and a wider range of services. The release says the added floor space will be built near Rovaniemi, and names lodging, transport, security and concierge work as the services being expanded.
“The investment programme brings 6,000 square metres of new luxury-level accommodation capacity to the Rovaniemi area, and after that our goal is to employ around 200 luxury travel professionals,” says Petri Juotasniemi, technical director.
For the 2026–2027 season the group says its sales are clearly ahead of the same point last year. It also points to the expanded Rovaniemi airport, which it says serves customers arriving by private aircraft.
“Christmas is already almost sold out. Many of our customers book their next trip while the current one is still running,” Joentakanen says.

The companies have not said when the new accommodation opens, where exactly near Rovaniemi it will stand, or what it will cost. Until they do, nothing new from the programme can be booked.
